At Pliant, we do our share to protect the environment by setting high standards for source conservation, materials engineering and waste reduction. Our goal is to be the industry leader on “first run yield.” We’re also focused on product development for post-industrial and post-consumer plastic film waste.

 

Pliant is a leader in the world of plastics recycling. According to the latest industry ranking, Pliant is among the largest recyclers in the country. Last year, we reprocessed and recycled over 135 million pounds of resin and are very proactive with our accomplishments here. It is a by-product of our focus on waste reduction and waste reuse. This is actually internal recycling.

 

We expanded these efforts a few years ago and began buying baled plastic on the open market from scrap dealers and brokers. We are experts at recycling and can recycle most types of film - PE film, PP film, Nylon film, printed film, EVOH film, and PVC film. We buy bales of scrap and turn it into film every single day. Our Danville, Kentucky facility is a showplace for Pliant’s recycling capability. We have 15 repelletizers throughout our system and believe that recycling is going to continue to be a big part of our business and industry going forward.
